Race for the Galaxy Android App
Youtube watch it played
Great implementation of the board/card game
2-4 players board game takes 30 to 60 mins the app with out the shuffling etc so plays much faster
i've mostly played 2 player so far with just the core set, other expansions are avalible just like the board game
gathering storm, (adds goals)
Rebel vs Imperial (adds more rebel and imperial theme card and goals)
brink of war. (adds a take over mechanic, so you can use your military for more then settling)
as i had experience with the board game and even Keladons A.I a fan made A.i program implementation back in the day
I found easy and medium a.i, too easy but i have since lost to hard.
the online play seem to have an active seen at the momment too. ive played and lost a few game there too.. its turn based.. so you don't have to play online in 1 sitting.. .. some game shave flowed quickly others i'm still playing turn by turn 4 player game a section of a turn a day..
graphics are exactly that of the board game exactly the same iconography
which I find great! maybe a lot to take in for a new user but each icon is bold and distinct and even though small on the phone i found i was able to make them out with out enlarging most of the time.. if you do enlarge the card you get a word description like tool tip explaining the action as well..
I think this is my new favorite Android game
theirs lots to consider each round, and lots of choice and tactics routes to victory to consider.. you need to watch your opponent actions and know when to try and find your play styles key card..
its the Keyforge of its day..
the theme and play is abstract but the art work and the names give nods to many many sci-fi tropes.
Star wars, Dune, star trek, firefly, etc.. some times reading your tablu give you a kinda sci-fi sotry of your fledgling empire..
the game is self is a implementation of sorts San Juan which is self is based on board game classic Puerto Rico
