Elder scrolls call to arms quickie

Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago 1st play

(1st play 3 player 3 newbies 1 teacher Warrington Games Club, maybe see a Youtube Vid in the near future )

Captains logs,  Its 20 dickity 0 and my 1st landing on the mysterious islands of the Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago

2 other crews have also landed also green  it'll be a bloodbath

My ten man crew Me(leader, Heritor), My Earth Warden(wizard), a Bootlegger(fighter), Archer, Crossbow men, and 5 red shirts some with shields some with double handed weapons

The 2nd crew with a Beast warden immediately starts luring more beasties to the board

me crew delves though the forest,  my warden spotted some treasure and using a earthen mage wave has shoved it closer to my greedy men

next my warden ensorccels the enemy water warden with vine snares! dropping her effectiveness to 1 action a turn, until she can cut her self out

On the western part of the islands the water and beast crew tussle, a demonic goat has , a firebat(mosquito), skeleton, turtle and snake man warrior have been summoned as random encounters

Arrows and spells are slung though the Forrest
My bootlegger and Heritor engage a barbarian savage and the a few of the water crew its bloody but we come out on top  .. barely

My crossbrow crits and showers the near by crew in blood and guts...

I secured 1 treasure, the beast crew snuck up and stole my 2nd with summoning shenanigans

It was a even game with all 3 crew fairly evenly engaging each other equally

final Picture of my dead crew mates

Did I mention my crossbow man shot my Heritor (Leader) dead in the back of the head?
my leader was engaged with two enemy crew, random chance :-p

as it was the 1st game we got a little lost on activation some times its meant to be leader , warden, remaining men,  we some times went out of order

We called its a Win for the Beast crew,  he and my self have 1 treasure off the board, but he has his hands on a 2nd treasure and both his Heritor and warden alive, water crew lost

victory was stolen from me by a summoned snake catching my 2nd treasure carrier just inches from the boat!

Enjoyable game, Nice simple d20 system  comparing total fight values with very few modifiers
I think we missed some rules as 3 players and 1st time, with 1 experienced player teaching,
potentially should have had random encounters when we picked up treasures

I've all ready seen on some forums people suggest 2d10 over 1d20  or a d12 and d8 .. im not sure why  so will take some looking into,

from what i took away from combat 1st you need to beat your opponents fight stat then you compare your fight stat roll to the opponents armour and do the difference in damage , quick and simple

most models seemed to be able to survive 2 hits 3 if lucky

It'll be fun to dive into a campaign, see what treasures and injuries we accumulate

the Northstar crewmen look fantastic! borrowed from Warrington club member Andy
